The Personal Fraternity of the SFO in Staryi Ostropil

On 12 February 2011 Yan and Marina, a couple from Zhytomir, began the time of formation in our Personal Fraternity of the SFO.

The rite of admission was performed according to the Ritual in Zhytomir. The meeting took place in the Datsyuk apartment. The minister s.Tamila and other members of SFO Personal Fraternity from Zhytomir and Kchmelnitski came to this meeting.

In December 2010 and January 2011 several brothers and sisters of our Fraternity confirmed that they wanted to continue formation in the Secular Franciscan Order. Sergiy, Franya and Natlalia began the period of formation, two married couple - Vasyl and Mila and Mykola and Valentyna  - renewed their temporary profession the second time.

From September of 2010 convocations of the Franciscan School of Evangelization took place in the Crimea. About 30 participants from Simferopol, Sevastopol, Alushta and other Crimean places gatherd in the house of Victor and Valentina, a married coule of the Secular Franciscans.

On August 14, 2010, the eve of Dormition of the Theotokos, a pilgrimage to Ostropil Mother of God took place to celebrate the 15 anniversary of the Franciscan School of Evangelization.     At the beginning of July about 15 sisters of the Fraternity of Servants of Bread gathered in Staryi Ostropil in order to get to know each other better, to seek God's will for further life of the Fraternity, to find their place in the Church and to understand what pecularities of the consecrated life as secular ones.     On August, 11 our br.Oleksiy from Zhytomir made his profession in the Secular Franciscan Order. He belongs to the Personal Fraternity of the SFO in Staryi Ostropil. At the presence of the Spiritual Assistant br.Casimir OFM Cap and the Minister of the Personal Fraternity s.Tamila br.Oleksiy publicly affirmed his personal commitment to live the Gospel in the world according to the example of Francis and following the Rule of the SFO.

From July, 31 to August, 10 2010 the convocation of the first course of the FSE held in Staryi Ostropil. Anatoli and Mila, a couple of the Secular Franciscans from Zhitomir, were responsible for it. More than 30 persons from Ukraine and Russia came in Ostropil. Some of them were at the School at first time.

Marina and Sergiy

A real joy for our fraternity and the Secular Franciscan Order as a whole is that we have many new vocations to the Gospel of Life. On 17 April Yanina from Khmelnytski began her time of initiation in our fraternity. Marina (Kuyiv) and Sergiy (Khmelnytskiy) were admitted to the Order on May 8. A month later on June 4 Veronika from Zhytomir wanted to begin the formation in our Fraternity. On Luly 5 Lola-Clare from Artemivsk (Donetsk region) joined them.

On 17-27 June 2010 for the first time in the history of the Franciscan School of Evangelization held an unusual convocation, which met couples. Most of them are ministers or members of the School. The place of the meeting was a picturesque town of the Southern Crimean near the Black Sea - Rybache village. About ten wedded pairs gathered in a hospitable household of of Victor and Valentina, a couple. The spiritual assistant of the FSE was at the convocation.
